How do various Mahayana systems understand and articulate how attainment of Buddhahood works? ('general' Mahayana attainment of 10th bhumi, satori, rigpa, etc)
If one attains complete Buddhahood in any system, is there a general Mahayana way of determining of such attainment actually took place? Like some kind of signs, meeting of various criteria, that can give confidence to such attainment?

Re: Various systems of attaining Buddhahood
They all follow the five paths and complete Buddhahood is attained upon the total removal of the two types of obstructions. (cognitive and afflictive)
Yes. The twenty-one sets of immaculate qualities like the Four fearlessnesses, etc along with the thirty two marks, etc, are all signs of complete Buddhahood. If one attains complete Buddhahood in any system, is there a general Mahayana way of determining of such attainment actually took place? As far as I'm concerned, there's no end to that, and it doesn't matter much. All needed to know is that there is a state beyhond suffering (a noble truth).Nalanda wrote: ↑Sat Dec 24, 2022 8:34 pm How do various Mahayana systems understand and articulate how attainment of Buddhahood works? Wich state you aim to depends on you. It is supposed that if you walk on a path you'll get to somewhere and according to this or that system there's an "ultimate state of enlightenment", but maybe there's another unknown system elsewhere, in other place or dimension whatever, where that "ultimate state of enlightenment" is surpassed.
I mean, we don't know really for sure the limit -if there is really a limit after all- to sentient beings develoment. All we have are hints, well stated or not, but hints.
true dharma is inexpressible.
