Space like and Illusion like Emptiness and Deity Yoga.

As Tantra often involves vows and samaya related to secret practice, this sub-forum has been created where Vajrayana practitioners can pose questions, and any of our members or staff can reply confidentially by PM.

Space like and Illusion like Emptiness and Deity Yoga.

Post by Konchog1 »

I was reading Gyalrong Tsultrim Nyima's a Letter of Final Testament Sent upon the Wind in Dr. Thubten Jinpa's amazing new publication Stages of the Path and the Oral Transmission (highly recommend) and I had a thought. It really only needs a yes or no answer. In Sutra, you dissolve the object of negation into Emptiness. This is Space like Emptiness. When you arise to your ordinary self, it appears like an illusion due to your memory of the experience of Emptiness of your self. This is Illusion like Emptiness. In Tantra, you dissolve the object of negation into Emptiness. When you arise with a different pride, is this not just the same exact Space like and Illusion like Emptiness? Is daily action yoga not just the same mindfulness of Illusion like Emptiness between sessions?
Equanimity is the ground. Love is the moisture. Compassion is the seed. Bodhicitta is the result.

-Paraphrase of Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Tsephel citing the Guhyasamaja Tantra

"All memories and thoughts are the union of emptiness and knowing, the Mind.
Without attachment, self-liberating, like a snake in a knot.
Through the qualities of meditating in that way,
Mental obscurations are purified and the dharmakaya is attained."

-Ra Lotsawa, All-pervading Melodious Drumbeats
