We watched the match on a big screen in a packed restaurant. I thought the USA would lose badly, but they showed a lot of gumption (as per usual, I should add). Not sure if it just seemed more exciting to me because the USA was playing.
USA only going to get stronger too as the country embraces Football/Soccer as you always produce top athletes

Next time you are watching a football match and a striker is running towards goal, switch your attention away from her/him and focus on the defence players particularly the goalkeeper. Watch their skill in impeding the striker without incurring a penalty and the saves made by the goalie.
It’s like switching from the breath in the nasal passages to the abdomen! It’s involves the entire body/ team.
This is an excellent point. I'm not a huge sports fan, but I can tell from times I have attended games in person (rugby in my case of course  ) that TV presentation often makes it difficult to discern the teamwork and strategy. Unfortunately, I've not had the opportunity to witness world-class football (soccer) in person.

It's a pity, in the era of wide-screen HDTV, that sports coverage does not take advantage of that by playing multiple cameras in real time, which would give a better view of the teamwork.

France beats Denmark 2-1

This greatly increases Australia's chances for making the knockout stage.

Looks like a possible rematch between Mbappe and Messi in the round 16

Should that happen, this time I should put my $$$ on Messi.

I hope so. I have to say, I got quite a few laughs reading some of the Daily Mail comments on the game from English fans. Brutal but hilarious.

I will definitely watch the coming match between USA and Iran, not for football but the drama. :rolling:

They have a Dream Team this year. The excitement in the air is electric. They've got this huge mega screen down on Copacabana beach. Futebol is not a sport here. It's a zealous religion. Watching Richarlison was like watching Bruce Lee defeat ping pong champs with his namchuks.

Matches today:

Serbia vs. Cameroon: 3-3

Ghana vs. South Korea: 3-2 (still live as I type this)

Still to come: Brazil vs. Switzerland, and Portugal vs. Uruguay.

Lots of goals.

Switzerland neutralising Brazil who are only playing with three attackers see if the tactics change in the second half

The World Cup seems to have accidentally done some good in China -
[Chinese] people have been told the country's COVID strategy has been one of the most successful policies in the world, and propaganda often focuses on the chaos and death tolls of the West.

When footage of the World Cup was broadcast in China — tens of thousands of spectators barely wearing a mask — millions of Chinese audiences began to question the government.

Protesters, of whom the majority are college students, became sceptical of their perception of the world...

US vs. Iran: The Most Political World Cup Gets Its Most Politically Charged Match.

Looks like Qatar will side with their Muslim brothers and USA will get knocked out soon.

It's samsara, my buddy, there's folk in Brazil who think Beyonce is a real goddess. A Muslim takeover is coming from Paraguay. Bullshit is universal.

They played well. Now they'll face Netherlands on Saturday.

Good luck...
