Beautiful mantra in the Biography of King Ashoka

Post by Vajrabimba »

In the Chinese translation of the Biography of King Ashoka, the following beautiful mantra appears

Tavatah yavantah evambhavantah bhavantah bhavishyati

Which although untranslated there appears to mean something like "As it was today, so may it be in the future" although that can't be the literal translation. If anyone can translate it word for word that'd be swell. It is a mantra that brings a lot of comfort that everyone could benefit from.
