Medicine Buddha

Post by frappuccino »

Dear all,

I would really appreciate your advice if a statue I’m about to gift someone can be identified as Medicine Buddha please?

Very many thanks 🙏

AFAIK, it depends on the contents of the bowl. There should be a plant, or at least his right hand is not only touching the ground but also holds a flower.

I believe your statue is rather Buddha Shakiamuni.

That is sakyamuni. In this particular iconography, Medicine Buddha’s pose is almost identical, but his palm is facing outward towards you.
EMPTIFUL.
An inward outlook produces outward insight.
