Hi All,
I'm reading a book "Buddhist Cosmology" by Kloetzli where a sentence "(...) the wind carried seeds from one universe to another." and "the fact that the seeds of merit which are transplanted to new worlds are so closely related to the rays of light exhibited by the Buddha (...)". For context - my understanding is that this is in regards to merit being "transferred" from one eon to another. Does anyone know more about this concept? Do you have any sources you could share? It's quite interesting! Thanks in advance!
Seeds of merit
Re: Seeds of merit
There is something like that in AbhidharmaKosha-Bhashya, vol 2. p.475...477, continuing in the foot notes.
According to AKB the beings who do not attain the the higher dhyana heavens at the end of a kalpa, are transferred to other universes. In Anguttaranikaya there is a short sutta in which Tathagata says that "the ocean may dry up and Mt Sumeru may crumble and fall, but the reincarnation of beings does not end."
