Why should we meditate

Post by master of puppets »

We look to find ourselves on outside
That doesn't change anything
If everything has the same essence, usually it is said emptiness; any kind of relation with the other doesn't help,
so, sit

nbr 2
how much of things do we sense of outside
how much of them do we see, do we miss
do we understand but without add anything
like in a sleep how much of the life flowing that we are not aware,
and what blocks us from that?
how much of practice do we have
so, practice in the middle of daily life

However “meditation” and “practice” are not necessarily synonymous….

There are a number of types of Buddhism that do not involve (or at learn de-emphasize) seated meditation or the like.

Zen is not for everyone. If you don't feel an affinity for this type of Buddhism, look into Pure Land, Nichiren, and Shingon thought and praxis, to pick three of the more popular "non-seated-meditation-centric" paths in East Asia off the top of my head. Other examples abound.

You might find this lesser-known path of interest too:

Best wishes.
"One should cultivate contemplation in one’s foibles. The foibles are like fish, and contemplation is like fishing hooks. If there are no fish, then the fishing hooks have no use. The bigger the fish is, the better the result we will get. As long as the fishing hooks keep at it, all foibles will eventually be contained and controlled at will." -Zhiyi

Do we really see what is there outside?
Do we really hear what has been said of others?
just have to shut up the inner voice (thoughts),
to hear.
just have to shut up the inner thoughts (clouds),
to see.
to see or to hear seems have the same mechanism in essence
do we really use our senses correctly?
or we are just blind and deaf in reality?
with much of a few dissemblers?

Bad news is that we will never be able see or hear!

read:

Too many steps have been taken returning to the root and the source.
Better to have been blind and deaf from the beginning!
Dwelling in one's true abode, unconcerned with that without --
The river flows tranquilly on and the flowers are red.

Comment: From the beginning, truth is clear. Poised in silence, I observe the forms of integration and disintegration. One who is not attached to "form" need not be "reformed." The water is emerald, the mountain is indigo, and I see that which is creating and that which is destroying.
