Diamond Hill Monastery

Whoosh! Plop! Snow melting.
White roof turns blue in the sun.
Afternoon sitting.
When walking, standing, sitting, lying down, speaking,
being silent, moving, being still.
At all times, in all places, without interruption - what is this?
One mind is infinite kalpas.

Steam floats above the cup
Incense from morning sit lingers
Sun rises, birds sing

🙏
When walking, standing, sitting, lying down, speaking,
being silent, moving, being still.
At all times, in all places, without interruption - what is this?
One mind is infinite kalpas.

no path, no birds, no people
just the Buddha's name

a bird does not sing
because it has an answer
it sings because it has a song

World sits silently
Cold wind, Cold air, cold Dharma room,
Cold kills, heat kills, ahhh!
When walking, standing, sitting, lying down, speaking,
being silent, moving, being still.
At all times, in all places, without interruption - what is this?
One mind is infinite kalpas.

Blue sky, cold sharp air
Birds alight on the gray trees
No old or new year
When walking, standing, sitting, lying down, speaking,
being silent, moving, being still.
At all times, in all places, without interruption - what is this?
One mind is infinite kalpas.

old year and old friend,
farther behind with each step --
I can't stop walking.

I hope the new year
will melt the snow off his ears,

From the world’s light of consciousness
Samsara broke loose, a new dawn.
Sitting here, future.

5-7-5 HAIKU IN BASE 3
(12-21-12)

Some snow and rain and then really cold for two days

The polar vortex begins to retreat and the temperatures go up again and

even seven degrees feels like a real heat wave
EMPTIFUL.
An inward outlook produces outward insight.
