Nah, who cares? I find it comforting that we're not alone in the universe, that we're not a single speck of dust floating in the chaos of space!

Re: Rep. Tim Burchett Criticizes Pentagon's New UFO Office
In the event that UFO's turn out to be extraterrestrial, informing the public is honestly a bad idea.
If there are species capable of visiting our planet from other solar systems, and also considering some of the claimed maneuvers these craft are capable of, these species could be well in excess of a thousand years past our technological level.
Suddenly you have a paranoid group of military men wanting to protect themselves, and our interests. How long would it be before they forced a confrontation, especially if the public was demanding some kind of action and politicians jumped on that bandwagon?
There is no scenario where that ends well for us.
Any scenario where UFO's turn out to be intelligent life from beyond our solar system is a bad scenario for us.
In the case that UFO's are craft belonging to extra terrestrials, the most likely reason they haven't interacted with us much is that we are simply nothing more than the local wildlife. Cows, ants, whatever.
That could change the moment our military decided to try to down one of their ships, or attempted any sort of communication with them.

Thus shall ye think of all this fleeting world:
A star at dawn, a bubble in a stream;
A flash of lightning in a summer cloud,
A flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream.

1/2) The U.S. Senate today voted 89-10 for final approval of S. 1605, the FY 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This bill contains the Gillibrand-Rubio-Gallego UAP language, without change from the text discussed in my Dec. 7, 2021 analysis:
https://twitter.com/ddeanjohnson/status ... 19364?s=20
2/2) I expect that the President will sign the NDAA into law within days. The UAP-related provisions of S. 1605 are found in Section 1683. A PDF file containing only the pertinent pages may be downloaded from this link:

As established in the NDAA, the UAP office would be given the task of providing a full spectrum of intelligence, scientific, and technical assessments related to UAPs, including:
Collection & Analysis of Data into a Central Repository: The UAP office will supervise the development and execution of intelligence collection and analysis regarding UAPs in order to understand their technical and scientific characteristics. The UAP office will receive relevant data immediately from Intelligence Community agencies.
Establish a Science Plan: The UAP office will be responsible for implementing a science plan to test scientific theories related to UAP characteristics and performances.
Build a National Priorities Intelligence Framework: The DNI will be required to consult with the Secretary of Defense to assign a level or priority within the National Intelligence Priorities Framework related to UAPs.
Evaluate any links between UAPs and foreign governments or non-state actors: The UAP office will be tasked with evaluating threats that UAPs may pose to the United States. Additionally, the office will be responsible for coordinating with federal agencies, including the FAA and NASA, and international allies and partners on UAPs.
Report to Congress: The UAP office will be required to provide unclassified annual reports to Congress and classified semiannual briefings on intelligence analysis, reported incidents, health-related effects, the role of foreign governments, and nuclear security.
This amendment is cosponsored in the Senate by Senators Rubio (R-FL), Graham (R-SC), Heinrich (D-NM), and Blunt (R-MO).

The fact that they are suddenly so interested in finding aliens, makes me think that they are not doing it for science.
Re: Rep. Tim Burchett Criticizes Pentagon's New UFO Office
Yes. And unless we are seriously suggesting that a world of Buddhas is visiting us in spaceships, then any other life forms will have The Three Marks like all sentient beings. Any help or harm they can do will be mundane only.
