Music time
Re: Music time
I had this double album in 1970's. This track in the memory of Duke Ellington is solemn. According to wikipedia there are three guitarists playing. I can hear only one, I wonder who that is?
"He Loved Him Madly"
Recorded Columbia Studio E, New York City June 19 or 20, 1974
Miles Davis — electric trumpet with wah-wah, organ
Dave Liebman — alto flute
Pete Cosey — electric guitar
Reggie Lucas — electric guitar
Dominique Gaumont — electric guitar
Michael Henderson — bass guitar
Al Foster — drums
James Mtume — percussion

Re: Music time
Partial listen, hear two 24:52 - :55 and later. Tones distinct to me. Don't know about a third player. Maybe a later dub in?
Re: Music time
Yes, it does sound like another guitar starts playing in the left speaker. We can rule out anykind of overdubbing, I think, that would be some much against honorable jazz improvisation principles.

Peter Losin is your reliable source of info on all things Miles. According to Losin "Cosey does not play on this tune, and Gaumont is the only guitarist audible until the splice at 10:52." See link 1.

“If you are not googling and searching for jewels after hearing this you are not a humble student of life....this shit BONKERZ! ”
Perhaps^. Of course it is bonkerz for sure. In any case the first time I’d heard Cambatta, one of my first thoughts reminded me of Dante Alighieri’s:
“Abandon all hope, ye who enter here”
