there is no graspable thing

Post by Baz0 »

We come into this world empty handed and leave the same way. In the interim ignorance grasps at one thing or another like fame, sex, power, self, enlightenment, etc but there actually is no graspable thing here to be grasped by anyone, ever.

If you believe there is some graspable thing of some kind that is worth grasping at please look into it more closely and deeply because you might be chasing the wind or running to the rainbow's end.

Of all ungraspable things perhaps the most ungraspable is the one who is supposedly grasping, who is supposedly owning, supposedly going to benefit from grasping even more. Find that one because all the grasping is for its sake.

I agree that there is no graspable thing, but we don't know that, being deluded sentient beings, therefore to us it seems very real. As sentient beings we very much believe that we come into and leave this world with heavy baggage.

Stating the doctrine does not help. That is like trying to explain to a fish that they are swimming in water. For example, I have been told about the nature of the human's "water", yet I am completely deluded and grasping.
To be or not to be, that is the question…

what if the root delusion is the presumption there is something to grasp and someone to grasp it?

in any event...

Of course that's the root delusion, knowing that doesn't matter if I don't rid myself of it. Practise is essential, else there would be no deluded beings, even if we say that truly there are no deluded beings.

Hold onto non-grasping and never let it go.
