You can’t really, but you can evoke what is strong and good in people -bring out something that was already there, then sometimes they do better, suffer less.

The problem is that a lot of our own stuff gets in the way, and sometimes we end up like toddlers trying to help each other, but lacking the insight to really do it.

Pursuit of Happiness

The first quote from the Dalai Lama to practice compassion is a good lead summary.

If a person has Bodhichitta and unconditionally loves others, then others will love the person, wouldn't that make others happy? Since their love for the person makes their self-cherishing thoughts weaker. Is it possible not to feel love towards someone, who has realised ultimate Bodhichitta?
EDIT: I'm not talking about romantic love. I mean love between mother and her child or something like that.

Teachers and parents are there to show you how to do things for yourselves. When they pass on there is a profound joy thinking 'how well is my beloved student doing now?' and, yes, maybe a bit of an ego trip sneaking in there but even that's a bit better than outsourcing ones own personal power.

Anyway, yes, there's making something 'something' as already stated, creating the conditions for such and such and also some independence, so that would be giving without ties, for example, and overall having a positive influence and creative energy.

Place the seeds of happiness in the others' mindstreams!
For that you have to find happiness within yourself.
Make yourself happy first!

Eat carbs! You feel content because of the sweet taste.
Exercise for endorphins!
Be well rested so happiness rises within yourself unobstructed!

And I should have started with it, give the person plenty space for inner tensions to dissipate!
Stay within your boundaries and respect the person's uniqueness and personal efforts so far!
If it's still impossible to make the other happy, find 3 qualities of their's!

Shantideva said:
“All the suffering in the world comes from seeking pleasure for oneself. All the happiness in the world comes from seeking pleasure for others.”

But this doesn’t mean that by the act of doing something to make someone else happy, that one’s own grasping and restless dissatisfaction (dukkha) will automatically vanish. That’s because the one isn’t the direct cause for the other.

But generally, thinking about the needs of others reduces self-grasping, and this in turn becomes the cause for the lessening and eventual cessation of one’s own suffering.

When people hurt others, that is an extension of their own suffering. People who aren’t suffering don’t cause others to suffer.

So, by wishing for others to be happy, we are also wishing for an end to the things that cause them to hurt others.

In the last 5 years ı had two friends; one took my money, the other my health.

This is unbelievable because they are friends.

I don't want to get stressed when go to a simple shopping, when open tv, or in simple dialogues; why these people are so eager to hurt the other? unbelievable.

my aim is not to ensure people to not hurt each other.
