How many ways does "God" get it wrong?

This showed up on fb a few days ago and I thought of so many separate rebuttals to it that it was kind of fun, so I thought it might amuse others here. I will go first but I look forward to your thoughts.

1. God needs to tweet? WTF, has he forgotten how to talk to us directly??

2. How would you know, God? You can't follow me into the bardo.

He seems pretty legit. If there was a god, he would be a total misanthrope by this point.

That last tweet really sums why I never got Christianity.

I grew up in a quite religious Catholic family. But even as a child I could never work out the logic of God killing a version of himself to save us from a torment he himself decided to inflict on us. Wouldn't it have been to just easier abolish Hell altogether (and what father cuts off and wishes eternal torment on his children anyways?!) or so I would argue with the Brothers of the religious order who taught me - it usually ended up with them telling me to please shut up.

I wonder if that is the same "god" that is on Facebook. A very popular page, with a smart-aleck author. Here in the Philippines his page was blocked for quite a while, because it was offensive. That amused me more than his posts. 😎

Well... we've had some good responses but I have to say that I'm somewhat surprised and a tiny bit disappointed that none of them were specifically Buddhist responses...

Maybe buddhist responses are not really invited by the concept of GOD. "You don't truely exist!", is not very polite.

And more important: I do not truly exist.

That's true, but if I wanted to take the joke a bit seriously I would say that we need to respond to mainstream culture on our own (i.e. Buddhist) terms, not on the culture's (i.e. default Christian) terms.
"You don't truely exist!", is not very polite.
And more important: I do not truly exist.
Those points are closer to the kind of responses I was hoping to see, actually.

A couple more that come to mind:

That's it? Do you mean permanently, or just until I get born again?

God? Which one are you? Oh, yeah, the vindictive Jewish one. Nah, you have no say over what happens to me.

 Free will?

Responding to mainstream culture on our own:
Since we were raised Tibetans, we have no knowledge of God.

The concept of God dies in the same way that the concept of all origin stories die, in trying to establish a first cause. Even Buddhism isnt free from this, which is why it makes no claims about a first cause. It just says "Here we are, this sucks, this is why it sucks, and this is how we make it stop sucking".

I don't think God gets it wrong. It's the folks who claim to know what he/she/they want(s) and/or speak on his/her/their behalf that screw up.

Like "Enlightenment", "God" is a concept that causes more confusion than the existential question it was meant to solve.

Maybe you didn't get the joke? Perhaps you were too caught up in projection.

Hi Archie, the whole thread is full of jokes.

Anyway, whatever, I was simply addressing the point that the Dharma in general accepts that there are many Gods, but that they remain caught in the samsaric flow. Just my perspective - call it projection if you so choose.

But sorry to bother you, can you?

I stutter a bit because of emotion.

Can you give birth?
