VISIT OF HIS HOLINESS SAKYA GONGMA TRICHEN

On behalf of the Dechen Association of centres, Sakya Dechen Ling is delighted to announce the forthcoming visit of His Holiness Sakya Gongma Trichen to London at the invitation of Lama Jampa Thaye. This will be His Holiness’ tenth visit to Dechen centres in the UK and His first since 2010. As such it will be a highly auspicious event.
Sunday 28th August, 2.30pm
The Initiation of Namgyalma accompanied by Eight Deities
His Holiness will bestow the initiation of Namgyalma, one of the principal deities of longevity and wisdom. The initiation derives from the lineage of the famed translator Bari Lotsava.
Monday 29th of August, 2.00pm
The Initiation of Vajrapani
Vajrapani is the embodiment of the enlightened power of all Buddhas and his practice is particularly efficacious in dispelling obstacles.
This particular form of the deity, Chandra Vajrapani, was brought from India to Tibet by the great yogin Rechungpa.

The word is actually caṇḍa, not candra. In Tibetan, the deity is Phyag rdor gtum po. In the lineage coming through Rechungpa, he has a retinue of five Garuḍas.
