about zen practicing

Post by master of puppets »

as you know zen practice is very simple.
that there is nothing there and need not any skillful means

by that measure it is very hard,
that not only the world affairs (all kind) finishes but also the ox of mind is always ready to stray away

so; is the zen practicing,
if it is easy, why? if it is hard, why? for you;

Better not to try to use a measure. Just do it, preferably with the guidance of a teacher.

It is a mistake to get caught in dualistic thinking (e.g., slow/fast, easy/hard, simple/skillful). A teacher can really help with this.

Not striving is really pretty difficult.

Meditate upon Bodhicitta when sad

Meditate upon Bodhicitta when suffering occurs

Meditate upon Bodhicitta when you are scared

Not striving is not pretty difficult at all if you don't have a practice in the first place.

"Everything is free"

I feel relaxed and no need to add anything to anything when remember & so help me to clear my mind easily.

A mistake is being caught up in the duality of right/wrong. :sage:

Zen has always guided my mind to smack bang in between the two opposites of 'hard' and 'easy'...

Mistake suggests right or wrong. If right or wrong is illusory then mistake cannot happen. Is this not so?

On that basis, is that statement also illusory?

Quite possibly. I would never profess to know anything for sure. We can only practice and live in the moment.

Sometimes it seems to be quite easy and sometimes it seems to be really difficult or annoying. This categorization, I think, is okay as long as it is not taken as ultimate truth. It is just a point of view from on moment into a situation and nothing inherent.
