Hi all
I have a theoretical question:
my Rinpoche once mentioned that it would be possible to attain bodhicitta without compassion.
He did not elaborate so I'd like to ask you about it.
Thank you
Bodhicitta without compassion
Re: Bodhicitta without compassion
Could you elaborate a bit on the context of this statement anyway?

Re: Bodhicitta without compassion
Perhaps he meant without contrived, relative compassion?
The nature of mind/bodhicitta is not dependent on relative compassion, so as far as I understand, one could realize the nature of mind having not generated relative compassion; but once the nature of mind is understood, then compassion is naturally present.
Re: Bodhicitta without compassion
Bodhicitta is 99% about emptiness, when you understand emptiness compassion arise spontaneously.

Re: Bodhicitta without compassion
Out of emptiness and clarity comes deity. In my/former lineage of the teacher.
The deity is compassionate.
You receive the blessing of deity by doing accumulations.
I’m scratching my head because I don’t know how else to tie conclusions.
Practitioner connect to deity with compassion.
If I, practitioner, develop desire to help sentient beings and do not practice, then I have simply a desire without substance.
Maybe “keep practicing!” will bring understanding.
