Karmic cause become gay

Post by Norden »

Hello guys

As far as I can tell Buddha never condemns gay people, Buddha taught us to have compassion to all living beings. But the question is, what is the karmic cause that makes someone become a gay? Thanks in advance.

Sexual preference is too complex to be delegated to a simple karmic choice in this lifetime.

Other than that many might say the only karma we should be investigating is the karma we created in this existence and more importantly the here and now.

According to Abdhidharmakoṣabhaśya, a bardo being with excess desire whose fetus becomes a male fetus during the third week of gestation will likely end up becoming pandaka; one can infer that a bardo being with excess anger whose fetus remains female will become a female pandaka.

According to Ayurveda and Tibetan Medicine, gender preference is largely a biological outcome resulting from a uniform quantity of male and female reproductive tissues at the moment of conception.

The question of pandakas is really only an issue for monastic ordination. It is not a moral issue, though, naturally, there are non-gender specific issues with oral sex and anal sex described in the teachings on sexual misconduct.

There might be many questions as to karmic causes.

what is the karmic cause that makes someone become a human ?
what is the karmic cause that makes someone become a man ?
what is the karmic cause that makes someone become a woman ?
what is the karmic cause that makes someone become a happy human ?
what is the karmic cause that makes someone become a sad human ?
what is the karmic cause that makes someone become an insect?
what is the karmic cause that makes someone become a cow ?

Uncountable questions of this kind ...

it depends. is not that simple as having a single cause, but in general it's just because of the passionate habits, like when you taste something and you want more.

being gay isn't a karmic retribution from sort of "bad" action... is just a result of desire habits.

Love, associated feelings, more love for associated feelings, exacerbated associated perceptions, suffering when no have. Mahayana don’t advocate to end the cause but to be clear of what they are. However, if Mahayana practitioners want to end cause of suffering and delusional perceptions as a step, they can but they will need to drop that realization and move forward to become a Buddha. Cause of suffering: 2nd Noble Truth. What are the cause? I don’t know. 😄

Buddhas are angry😄 if we settle for less and try to end the desire (cause as you said) instead of focusing on our enlightened nature/Wisdom to discern them.

Traditionally, many will tell you it is because of past cheating. Specifically, men who cheat on their wives are born gay and women who cheat on their husbands are born lesbian. I doubt there's any canonical justification for this. Perhaps there is.

We can only assume being born straight is due to cheating on your homosexual lover.

In my opinion, having seen this myth told, it is that the point of it is to get you not to cheat, the idea being that a straight man would have the most horror at being reborn as a gay man, and women vice-versa, thus theoretically ensuring fidelity.

Then, the monks uttered this gāthā:

These bodies are like foam.
Them being frail, who can rejoice in them?
The Buddha attained the vajra-body.
Still, it becomes inconstant and ruined.
The many Buddhas are vajra-entities.
All are also subject to inconstancy.
Quickly ended, like melting snow --
how could things be different?

The Buddha passed into parinirvāṇa afterward.

It’s the same attraction or love for any object right. That’s the seed and cause but like you said specific detail what are they because it’s just not one thing but a simultaneous interaction of skandhas.

Most likely a person is born gay if they were a female in their past life and vice versa for lesbians. This is what I read from a bhikkhu.

that is kind of transformation mahayana way, vajrayana, where desire is a valuable thing and coexist with wisdom. but in renounciation mahayana one should give up desire, all desires.

But here is a question of choice: wisdom allows us not to make a choice that will create more karma? Suppose that’s Mahayana view. A Vajrayana view is make more karma (based on desire right) and transform that karma? Guess which ways are better? Both depends on practitioners. And both Mahayana and Vajrayana are taught enlightened nature right! Can you guys have a hand shake with common Mahayana or we are too inferior 😉. I truly don’t think that Heart Sutra and Mahaprajnaparamita Sutras advocate end cause of suffering (object of love being a person).

:rolling:

Best explanation.
There is no suffering to be severed. Ignorance and klesas are indivisible from bodhi. There is no cause of suffering to be abandoned. Since extremes and the false are the Middle and genuine, there is no path to be practiced. Samsara is nirvana. No severance achieved. No suffering nor its cause. No path, no end. There is no transcendent realm; there is only the one true aspect. There is nothing separate from the true aspect.
