“Observing samaya involves to remain inseparable from the union of wisdom and compassion at all times, to sustain mindfulness, and to put into practice the guru’s instructions”. Garchen Rinpoche

For those who do virtuous actions,
goodness is what comes to pass.
For those who do non-virtuous actions,
that becomes suffering indeed.

This one was given to me by my dad when I was training to be a school teacher!

Image

It was the sort of thing I did as a school kid - I think my dad just wanted to remind me how weird it was that I chose to become a teacher. I hated school (but loved learning) and was asked to leave one place because I was too disruptive.

Image

Mind you, it was a fairly strict boarding school with a strong naval tradition and I tended to ask "why" a lot

So is the cartoonist saying that SJW's should arm themselves and kill fascists in order to become great?

I removed several posts. Here are some rules of thumb for the thread. If writing out what the cartoon illustrates on the board would violate the Terms of Service, then just don't post the cartoon. Please just post cartoons here. If you want to engage in political commentary then do that in another thread, otherwise we risk going off in all sorts of directions. Thanks!

Cartoons, right?

Those who, even with distracted minds,
Entered a stupa compound
And chanted but once, “Namo Buddhaya!”
Have certainly attained the path of the buddhas.

-Lotus Sutra, Upaya Chapter

純一実相。実相外。更無別法。法性寂然名止。寂而常渉照名観。
There is only reality; there is nothing separate from reality. The naturally tranquil nature of dharmas is shamatha. The abiding luminosity of tranquility is vipashyana.

-From Guanding's Introduction to Zhiyi's Great Shamatha and Vipashyana

Since it seems that this thread is just being used as an attempt to troll and back and forth (or, more to the point, left and right) I am shutting it down. If anybody has anything intelligent to add, which I severely doubt, please feel free to contact me or another staff member.
