What did you learn from the movies?

Post by Simon E. »

I learned that I cant handle the truth..
And not to put Baby in a corner,
And never, ever to say 'I'll be right back'..

Grandfather: Am I still in this world?
Jack Crabb: Yes, Grandfather.
Grandfather: [groans] I was afraid of that. Well, sometimes the magic works, sometimes it does not.

and you should never mention the War (I know its cheating because its from a tv show)
The antidote—to be free from the suffering of samsara—you need to be free from delusion and karma; you need to be free from ignorance, the root of samsara. So you need to meditate on emptiness. That is what you need. Lama Zopa Rinpoche

I learned from life that it's not a movie.
Real life has much more intelligent processes and surprises than any commercial movie is able to show.

Never split up from the group. The car never starts when you really need to escape.

Funny how we always want things we don't have, and don't want what we get tired of.....i guess there's a happy medium somewhere....i asked the guy i'm with recently : "What would you rather have, a lifetime of beautiful women & sex, or a lifetime of delicious food, but no sex..."

I'd pick delicious food.....haven't gotten tired of that yet

Oh........he said he'd rather have delicious food....but i know he was lying...

This is an excellent topic. I've had similar conversations more than once.

I'm a pretty good cook and I can provide myself with food I like with little effort or trouble, so long as I have some income. I actually prefer to do the cooking than eat someone else's. In contrast, masturbation is inconvenient, awkward, and never as much fun as sex with a partner can be. So: I'd choose a lifetime of creative sex with excellent people and cooking for myself and others over trying to provide myself with some simulacrum of great sex while letting others cook for me.

There is no spoon.

And

Cats love Lasagna
(no, sorry, that's a cartoon)

Actually I learned about the Prajnaparamita Sutra from "Little Buddha". Was a seed set deeply.
Ho! All the possible appearances and existences of samsara and nirvana have the same source, yet two paths and two results arise as the magical display of awareness and unawareness.

Thanks!! Where did you find an English subtitled version of this? I can't even find a place where I can buy it. There is a YouTube upload, but it only has Vietnamese subtitles.
