All Things Chod--Links and Upcoming Events

Post by Josef »

Just thought I would create a general thread for topics and discussion of the practice of Chod.
This might be a good place to put any questions, event notices, links or other.
"All phenomena of samsara depend on the mind, so when the essence of mind is purified, samsara is purified. Since the phenomena of nirvana depend on the pristine consciousness of vidyā, because one remains in the immediacy of vidyā, buddhahood arises on its own. All critical points are summarized with those two." - Longchenpa

Nangwa, I'm excited for you!
I hope it will be fruitful and beneficial for you and others _/\_

We could create a separate section here for Chod but to be honest I have hesitated due to the nature of Chod and the multitude of limitations on what can even be discussed. But information about upcoming events is welcomed and wonderful.

Just in case you would like to see a more extensive section for Chod please feel free to provide feedback and ideas either by PM or in the Suggestion Box under Announcements. Your kind in put is always appreciated.

Best wishes,
Laura

Here's an interesting website I've found which has a big database of short biographies of many Tibetan Buddhist masters:

Here is an introductory course in Mahayana Buddhism, taught online and free of charge by people who know what they're talking about:

Tibetan Calendar Mathematics by Svante Janson.

The "mathematics" is just simple modular arithmetic. And actually the paper isn't presented using traditional calculations so it's unclear if the Tibetans used modular arithmetic directly or not (it's hinted that they just used rule systems) although they did and do use astronomical data.from observations to track lunar and solar motion and determine if particular points in the sky have been passed, etc.

“Where do atomic bombs come from?”
Zen Master Seung Sahn said, “That’s simple. Atomic bombs come from the mind that likes this and doesn’t like that.”

"Even if you practice only for an hour a day with faith and inspiration, good qualities will steadily increase. Regular practice makes it easy to transform your mind. From seeing only relative truth, you will eventually reach a profound certainty in the meaning of absolute truth."
Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.

"Only you can make your mind beautiful."

Although many individuals in this age appear to be merely indulging their worldly desires, one does not have the capacity to judge them, so it is best to train in pure vision.
