Good & affordable ebooks - recommendations
What to do when you're short of money and you want to read books about Buddhism without pirating? Let's collect some recommendations for good and affordable ebooks here, both books that are currently on special offer and those that are always free or cheap.
Of course there's room for interpretation what exactly counts as "cheap", for me it's when the price is below 5€, others may have different standards, I guess we'll just have to deal with that. Just recommend whatever you think falls into this category
I'd like to start this thread with two books by Mathieu Ricard available for 4,65$ each:
Mathieu Ricard: The Art of Meditation
imo one of the best introductions to meditation, and
Mathieu Ricard: Happiness: A Guide to Developing Life's Most Important Skill
haven't read this one yet, but since it's by Ricard I have some confidence it's a good read. Afaik both books are not special offers but long-term low priced.

I like real (dead-tree) books so I'm going to suggest haunting your local thrift shops, book exchanges, etc. It adds nice elements of serendipity, recycling and community to the whole process, because you find old copies of Zen Flesh, Zen Bones or something theosophical alongside Castaneda or The Imitation of Christ.
Of course, your success rate is much higher if your local meditation centre or yoga studio has a book exchange.
And if it hasn't, you can ask if you can start one.

Definetly this free copy of Atisha's Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment (here: https://dharmaebooks.org/the-lamp-for-t ... ghtenment/ ) and Nagarjuna's Letter to a Friend. For complete intro I'd definetly recomment Patrul Rinpoche's Words of My Perfect Teacher.

goodness is what comes to pass.
For those who do non-virtuous actions,
that becomes suffering indeed.

Good thread, proactive and useful.
I want to say I've been very pleased to find that Padmakara have not only being producing some great translations of important works in different languages, they also have a whole bunch of booklets of shorter works, including prayers and sadhanas too, quite cheap, and really excellent service.

Gyalwang Karmapa launched his new website, Dharma eBooks, which will be a growing collection of texts, practices and commentaries - some of which have been difficult to find.
Dharma Ebooks is a site featuring ebook editions primarily of the Buddhist canon in Tibetan, Buddhist philosophical texts from the Tibetan traditions, and practice texts.
Dharma Treasure has undertaken this project in accordance with the wishes of the Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje.
Each text is translated into various languages and is available for download to iOS, Android, Kindle and others so that students can access Dharma books from wherever they

Another resource is https://happymonkspublication.org/ which is the website of Ven Fedor Stracke.
The antidote—to be free from the suffering of samsara—you need to be free from delusion and karma; you need to be free from ignorance, the root of samsara. So you need to meditate on emptiness. That is what you need. Lama Zopa Rinpoche

Some of the best (Kagyu) teachings available to read online although, technically not in ‘ebook’ format.
