Isnt it true that some traditions regard Dorje legpa as and enlightened being, others and a worldly entity? Some Nyingma traditions hold DL to be an enlightened protector, no?
I like Dorje Legpa as sort 9f the patron saint of pro gamblers which is what I am now.
The Ma sang are credited with inventing Pagchen, the "Great Game," a sort of Tibetan version of dominoes, popular in the Dzogchen Community. I played the Boss a couple of times. It was intense. He yelled at me once because he could not read my face, "Don't be indifferent" he said. He liked to win, and when he did not win, he would get very annoyed.

Sounds fun. Do you wager in this game? I am partial to Texas Holdem.

Dorje Legpa is not a rgyal po, he is a ma sang, one of the seven ma sang brothers, not Mongolian at all.

Yes, it is fun to play (about as fun as watching paint dry to watch). And yes, it is a gambling game and to win, requires skill.
Let me know when and where the pot is amd I will learn it.

I play 5 card on the low end table. Hold em gets expensive quick. I love throwing bones though. I may need to supplicate Dorje Legpa...

I've recently started playing holdem again, I used to play both online and live about 12-15 years ago. I gave up, and 'retired' in decent profit, which I was happy about.

During lockdown, I've reopened my pokerstars account and have been playing low end cash games and tournaments. Been doing pretty good and getting my instinct's and skill back.

I understand. There is holdem with limits and no limit holdem. To play pro you need a stake and play the buy in you can afford to fold for hours and go all in is less thamn half your stack. If you know the game you can profit.

It is also capitalizing at the cost of someone's bad decision making, luck or combination of both.

That doesn't feel right to me, enough so it ruined my ability to do it.

YMMV

I miss the thrill and once in a blue moon I might play .5/.10 online but there it isn't the same and not because of the stakes. Not selling, just telling.

I'm not pro, but I do know a couple. My strategy is to get involved in hands as much as possible, based on starting hands, obviously, but position to the button and blinds, and the perceived betting patterns of the other players, stealing blinds, check raising when strong etc For myself anyway, this applies to cash and tournaments.

Constantly folding and having to try and double up once my stacks depleted is a risky strategy IMO, firstly when you do make a move, everyone knows you've played pretty tight, so a lot of good players will fold and not want to double you up, and of course you may lose to a big stack that calls you because they see you as desperate.

Playing like this kinda makes it more a luck game than skill. You end up in a crap shoot for your stack and always on the back foot.

This is just my experience from playing online and live games, also watching pros play in both formats, over the last 15 years or so. YMMV.

I dunno mate, playing some small stakes tournaments, including free-rolls, allowed me financially to travel to attend retreats and teachings. Poker is primarily a skill game, I don't gamble on anything else, like sports betting or house casino games.
