Congratulations David! You mentioned E-sangha and I would just like to thank you for this site as an archive for Malcolms past posts.DNS wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 1:54 am A good stat for seeing the success of a forum is Active topics. However, that is typically measured over the last 7 days, so doesn't give a long-term picture. I've seen active topics over the last 7 days fluctuate from a low of around 40 to a high of 120+ here at this forum and others.
Total members can get inflated, especially if admins, moderators don't remove spammers from the list. So the best stat in my opinion is the total number of posts over the history of the site.
As far as I know, no Buddhist forum has had over one million posts, except for e-sangha which was the only forum with a good forum software similar to this one at that time. The other forums at that time were all on google or yahoo, or other bad formats. E-sangha died about 10 years ago.
In the video in the OP I mentioned how we were nearing one million posts. We were about 59,000 posts short of that about 7 months ago . . . . until now! And this happened only about 3 days after Asalha Puja Day, which commemorates the Buddha's first teaching, the first turning of . . . . .

Dharma Wheel (DWM) 484,298 posts, est. April 5, 2009
Dharma Paths (DP) 5,959 posts
Dharma Wheel Engaged (DWE) 5,462 posts
Total posts from all DW forums: 1,000,000
(as of this date)
Thanks again everyone!

Yes, Malcolm is greatly appreciated for his many informative posts. He was/is well-liked here at DWM. Hopefully he'll return one day and help us get to 2 million.amanitamusc wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 6:06 am Congratulations David! I missed the exact moment the "odometer" turned over, but we hit half a million posts!
It took 10 years, 9 months.
DWT did it in 10 years, 6 months, but DWT had a 4 or 5 month head start in the opening date of the forum.

That's a lot of jib jab.
What's the Dharma quotient in all that?
There is no suffering to be severed. Ignorance and klesas are indivisible from bodhi. There is no cause of suffering to be abandoned. Since extremes and the false are the Middle and genuine, there is no path to be practiced. Samsara is nirvana. No severance achieved. No suffering nor its cause. No path, no end. There is no transcendent realm; there is only the one true aspect. There is nothing separate from the true aspect.

0.16 probability of attaining some level of awakening.
0.28 probability for those with 1,000 posts or more.
