Occult Stories
Some theosophists put pen to paper with books or short stories on occult, mystic or fantastic themes. Here is one short tale by the Irishman William Quan Judge (d. 1896). (Others feel free to add or recommend your own favorites in this genre.)

The Welsh artist & thinker, Kenneth Morris (d. 1937), was a superb writer, although I could never grok his Welsh names & terms:

Re: Occult Stories
Talbot Mundy was another scribe whose adventure tales were once popular.
To be clear though, I have read almost no weird fiction (or any other) in the last 50 years, so this thread is mainly for those who do like such.
I recall my favorites from long ago were, Rider Haggard, Olaf Stapleton, Algernon Blackwood, the Gormangast Trilogy chap M Peake, Tolkien, Kipling, Bram Stoker, several SF writers and the non-jungle efforts of ER Burroughs.

I'll stick with H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe, thanks.

Too long for reading online, but if you like it, The Idyll of the White Lotus is still in print. A tale of ancient Egypt, a young temple priest and his trials. Mable Collins held the pen.

Re: Occult Stories
Check out William Hope Hodgson.
He wrote some very odd but innovative horror and fantasy - including The Night Land which I think may well have been an influence on Tolkein. His sea horrors also may have influenced Lovecraft.
