Reading Devanagari - Request from a Nun

Is anyone here able to read Devanagari script?

A Buddhist nun asked me to have a look at this, knowing that I (try to) pronounce mantra in Sanskrit. However, I do not know the Devanagari alphabet and so cannot even read out the text. Would anyone be able to: 1) identify it as a mantra, verse or whatever text it is; 2) transliterate it; or 2) translate it?

The script here is in Devanagari script but in Nepali Newari Language with the mixture of Saskrit words. The transliteration is as following:
"Budh" dhatuya artha thuikegu kha:. guhya
Syä thu uu wa thu uu gu du vayat 'buddha'
Dhai. Thwa dhatugat artha kha:. Bu-
Ddha dharmaya avidyarupi andhakarayata naasha ya
Naa: ajnyarupi jyoti chyaka: dukhasatya
Dukha samudaya satya .

Meaning (Translation):
The root meaning of 'Budh' is awakening. The person who is awakened or on the path of awakening is "Buddha" or "Bodhisattva". Buddha Dharma dispells the darkness of ignorance and the light of this wisdom brings liberation.
