Ngondro required for Chod?

Post by LhakpaT »

Is it necessary to complete Ngondro before receiving a Chod empowerment / teachings (LN, for example) and undertaking the practise?

Completion of ngondro is not required for receiving chod empowerment. (FYI, there is no chod empowerment in Longchen Nyingthig, although some Teachers will give a different empowerment to "open the sky door.") Ask your Teacher about practice.

does this mean to open the brahma door?
true dharma is inexpressible.

The bodhisattva nourishes from bodhicitta, through whatever method the Buddha has given him. Oh joy.

Yes, but in the Chod-tradition it is called "opening the door to the sky"

It is actually a direct introduction. You transfer your consciousness in to the sky and rest there.
