Yes it is connected to it. You could, for example, think that Vatican doesn't trust the scientists, how they are using their telescopes, and they want to find out what they themselves are able to see with it. Or perhaps they think that scientists are not telling everything that they have found. Which is quite possible, because scientists have families and loans and they want to keep their jobs and therefore they are not going to broadcast anything that will cause them to lose their positions as respectable scientific persons along with their salaries and sponsors.

Also, as has been told before, there is a prophecy in the New Testament, that has something to do with stars and their courses in the sky and even their inhabitants. This is understandably a rather secret and esoteric topic. If you are really interested, -which doesn't seem likely-, you can try to find it out yourself.

My Dad told me years ago, "Don't believe anything you hear and only believe half of what you see."
I wasn't sure he was right back then (what do Dads know, anyway?) but I now think his advice was pretty solid.

Sure they can! I meant the the hundreds of other observatories around the world, that are not owned by them.

The nice thing about astronomy is you can easily get your own telescope and do your own research if you're not satisfied with pics and research published by others. There is way more out there to look at than planets & moons even using relatively inexpensive equipment.
