For those unaware, exactly 24 hours from now, the brand new 84000 app for iOS and Android will be launched.

According to 84000 the app will include:
  • A dynamic collection of Buddhist sūtras encompassing teachings on everything from meditation techniques to epic and inspirational journeys and narratives; from profound presentations of philosophical logic to short stories illustrating the workings of karma.
  • Access to sūtra-specific introductions that articulate its key concepts, its narrative frameworks, and its socio-historical context.
  • Interactive reading tools such as pop-up definitions of key terms like “samsara” or “non-duality” in a comprehensive trilingual glossary.
  • Search function that allow you to look for characters, places, or philosophical concepts such as ‘Mañjuśrī’ ‘Vārāṇasī’ or ‘Bodhicitta’.
  • Ability to read bilingually or to compare translations with source Tibetan e-Kangyur folios integrated throughout the publications
This should prove quite useful for quite a lot of people seeking to further study the dharma or at least wishing to have it closely accessible for any occasion. Since there's so much of the kangyur still awaiting translation, its content will continue to grow in the upcoming years.

On MacOS 11.0 and later it requires a Mac with an Apple M1 chip or later. No Intel.

This is very disappointing. :crying:

It is now available to download, works fine on my Samsung phone. Easy to use and the in-text notes will probe invaluable.

Great stuff!
"One should cultivate contemplation in one’s foibles. The foibles are like fish, and contemplation is like fishing hooks. If there are no fish, then the fishing hooks have no use. The bigger the fish is, the better the result we will get. As long as the fishing hooks keep at it, all foibles will eventually be contained and controlled at will." -Zhiyi

The search function is a little hinky. For example, a search for "lotus" didn't pull anything up, nor did "saddharmapundarika," but searching for "g" (chose a random letter) pulled it up, tenth on a list, as "the White Lotus of the Good Dharma."

That said, I'm very glad this exists.
