Would like to chant online with others.... any reccomendations?

Post by truthb »

Due to covid- no groups meeting in my area- can anyone reccomend ways to chant online with others?

Currently not affiliated with any group- open to all.
Based on The Lotus Sutra, it is my conviction that each person who is reading this will INEVITABLY become a Fully Realized Buddha.

Reverend Kasahara, a Jodo Shu priest in Tokyo, Japan, does a monthly zoom call in English that is open to all: https://www.rinkaian.jp/e/

The service is mostly chanting; done in a traditional Jodo Shu manner; with a lot of Namo Amidabu's. I enjoyed it. He also taught some basic principles of Jodo Shu Buddhism.

Also, to get an idea of his philosophy and teaching style, here is a brief essay written by Reverend Kasahara that I enjoyed: https://www.rinkaian.jp/e/chapter10.html
"Please call me by my true names so I can wake up; so the door of my heart can be left open: the door of compassion." -Thich Nhat Hanh

"Ask: what's needed of you" -Akong Rinpoche

"Love never claims, it ever gives. Love ever suffers, never resents, never revenges itself." -Gandhi

They meet twice weekly for practice by skype.
There is no suffering to be severed. Ignorance and klesas are indivisible from bodhi. There is no cause of suffering to be abandoned. Since extremes and the false are the Middle and genuine, there is no path to be practiced. Samsara is nirvana. No severance achieved. No suffering nor its cause. No path, no end. There is no transcendent realm; there is only the one true aspect. There is nothing separate from the true aspect.
