false goshos and true goshos?

Post by Jonatan »

how are you friends? I am from Argentina, I am using a google translator to be able to break the abyss of the language, I hope it is understood, this topic leaves me thinking, is it true that there are false goshos? I am a simple believer in Nichiren Buddhism not very intellectual. Thank you very much.

Actually, our friend Narwhal hosts the archived pages of nichirenscoffeehouse.net which is a great resource. Here is a list of authentic gosho. IIRC, this uses the strictest criteria - either originals exist, or were confirmed to exist at some point, or copies of gosho by direct disciples, or some other means of authentication.

That said, one only needs to see all of the fragments of authentic letters to surmise that many texts have likely been lost. Its very possible that there are texts in archives that have yet to be discovered. Its also quite possible that texts we presently have that cannot be authenticated are in fact authentic. This inquiry is quite a rabbit hole. Have fun!

aside - in case anyone wants to follow the broken links on the coffeehouse site, you can try the Wayback Machine https://web.archive.org/
just copy the link address and search at the archive.org site.
