What do you do when someone you love leaves you feeling devalued and insignificant?
What do you do when someone you love leaves you feeling devalued and insignificant?
It's quite a hurtful thing to go through. What is the best way to deal with this type of treatment?
In his writing, Hokkemongu (Words and Phrases of the Lotus Sutra), The Great Master Nichiren said, “If the practitioners of the Lotus Sutra wholeheartedly devote their life to the Lotus Sutra and practice according to its golden words, it is certainly needless to say that not only in the next life, but also in this lifetime they will overcome severe difficulty, prolong their life, receive the great, good fortune of unsurpassed enlightenment, and accomplish the great vow of the widespread, propagation of True Buddhism.”

Our value and significance are not dependent the perception of others. It is not uncommon for people in a relationship to base their value and significance on others but this is ultimately putting faith that impermanence will be permanent.
There is a middle way where our value and significance are self sustained and shared equally with those in our domain. Those who reciprocate tend to find places close to our beings.

Re: What do you do when someone you love leaves you feeling devalued and insignificant?
If the person you love UNJUSTLY leaves you feeling devalued and insignificant, there is nothing to do. What goes around comes around and they will never find fulfillment. Chanting Daimoku with a correct faith and you will find someone who will value your importance. They too can find fulfillment, despite having betrayed you, should they also come to chant the Daimoku with a correct faith. All your misfortune (and theirs) will turn to fortune should you both come to chant the Daimoku with a correct faith. Chanting the Daimoku with the same faith as Nichiren is indeed powerful.
