Re: Where’s all the Gelukpas?
I’m mostly Karma Kagyu, but I’ve got some FPMT in me too from the early days.
1.The problem isn’t ‘ignorance’. The problem is the mind you have right now. (H.H. Karmapa XVII @NYC 2/4/18)
2. I support Mingyur R and HHDL in their positions against lama abuse.
3. Student: Lama, I thought I might die but then I realized that the 3 Jewels would protect me.

Yeah I started out with lam rim tsongkhapa, early on, gravitated towards Kagyu, then moved on, but I really was wondering what’s the Gelukpa majority here? Lama Zopa FPMT students? I mean I have friends in Drepung, just wondering what’s the make up of Geluk students.Schrödinger’s Yidam wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 12:14 am I’m mostly Karma Kagyu, but I’ve got some FPMT in me too from the early days.
Seems very quiet.

I have a very robust Gelug connection (among others), but sorry I don't like to speak about my gurus publicly.

Hello! Is anyone still here? I am an FPMT student, though I've been separated from the community at my nearest center for a few years now. The pandemic certainly hasn't helped things, though I know I should link up with them online.

I don't identify as a Gelug, but I do recognize the gems in the tradition. That's why I am here.
Re: Where’s all the Gelukpas?
I'm a bit late to the party but I'll also raise my hand to say I practice primarily in the Gelug tradition.

Another Gelugpa here. Started my Dharma studies with a drelo geshe in South Wales, then with the wonderful Khen Rinpoche Geshe Tashi Tsering of Sera Mey when he was in London and now I’m studying with two Sera Je geshes in Italy.
The antidote—to be free from the suffering of samsara—you need to be free from delusion and karma; you need to be free from ignorance, the root of samsara. So you need to meditate on emptiness. That is what you need. Lama Zopa Rinpoche

Re: Where’s all the Gelukpas?
I started my dharma studies with Sera Mey Khen Rinpoche Geshe Tashi Tsering and since he left have become a close student of a Sera Jey geshe.
I regularly study under a IBD geshe and during lockdown have joined a gelug tulku on zoom from Switzerland.

Re: Where’s all the Gelukpas?
I can't call myself a Gelug.Pa nor a practitioner but I have heard the first Dharma teachings by a Gelug.Pa gheshe and I can say that I am mostly attracted by a solid intellectual framework in my approach to the world...

A Rime-influenced Gelugpa here -- very grateful for the numerous Kagyu lamas who have enriched the journey.

Very similar case for me being somewhat Rime influenced also. I have received teachings among the four main schools and at this point I am gravitating back to where I started, when I was influenced mainly by Gelugpa teachings.Lobsang Damchoi wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 3:51 am A Rime-influenced Gelugpa here -- very grateful for the numerous Kagyu lamas who have enriched the journey.
