103rd Gaden Tripa H.E. Jetsun Lobsang Tenzin Rinpoche Passes Away

The head of the Gelugpa tradition of the Tibetan Buddhism has passed away late last night at Max Hospital in New Delhi. The 103rd Gaden Tripa H.E. Jetsun Lobsang Tenzin Rinpoche breathed his last around midnight yesterday after being admitted in the intensive care unit.

In October last year, His Holiness the Dalai Lama appointed the deceased as the 103rd Gaden Tripa, the highest order of the Gelugpa sect conferred on the basis of scholarly merit.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama visited the late religious leader at hospital last month before heading for his northeast India tour.

As the 103rd Gaden Tripa was Sharpa Choeje (Dharma Master of the Eastern Peak) as he was a former Abbot of Gyuto, tradition states that the next Gaden Tripa will be the Jangtse Choeje (Dharma Master of the Northern Peak) who was the former Abbot of Gyume.Sravasti Abbey have a biography of him also there is a biography from Vajrapani Institue.
