I’ve been here a couple of times. The Khenpo winters elsewhere so it hibernates. But good people with a good teacher.
There's also his group in Brazil. They have a community there. I don't know how it works, but probably it is cheaper. The lama in charge seems to be a decent guy. Could be worth investigating.

I know someone who fits this criteria. She's been back in retreat for the last 10 or so years, after doing a 3yr in the mid 80s. But I think it's kind of a special condition, as she has formed a relationship with the retreat lamas, and she is well established in the practices. I imagine she plans to just practice until she passes.
