Any thoughts on Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche?

Post by TheSynergist »

Hi, everyone,

I want to get started with Dzogchen, and I'm trying to find a teacher. I was thinking about checking out Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche, since he's based near where I live and he seems to have some beginner-level teachings. Does anyone have any experience with/thoughts on him or his org (the Pristine Mind Foundation)?

Thanks!

He is a qualified teacher. I have met him personally, many years ago.

I thought he was pretty cool, I have done a few teachings with him, both in person (Pre Covid) and online. I don't consider him a main teacher or anything, but I am glad to have met him and had teachings from him. He is quite reputable AFAIK.

Thank you, all, for your comments! It sounds like, if nothing else, he's ethical and qualified. I look forward to listening to him on Zoom.

I’ve enjoyed the teachings I’ve received from him. He was a disciple of the last Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok at Larung Gar. His organization has recently announced he’s decided to start teaching Dzogchen. He follows the somewhat traditional ngondro, then Dzogchen approach.
