Dzogchen origin and differences with other forms of meditation
Dzogchen origin and differences with other forms of meditation
How did Dzogchen develop? Did it originate from the Buddha? How is this different from other forms of meditation like vipassana or shamata?
Re: Dzogchen origin and differences with other forms of meditation
Dzogchen has no origin, is not something that develops in time, gradually. Historically we can say that this or that master taught this or that but all they did was to point using provisional means to that which is beyond expression.
Dzogchen differs from vipassana and shamata in the view that is explained from the very beginning. This explanation sets the context without which it is impossible to directly know your essence.
