Various Mantra Chantings

Post by bluelotus »

Dear fellow practitioners of meditation, followers of precepts, buddhists, or non buddhists, living beings, non-living beings,

I'll like to offer some chanting blessings for all readers who read this, and I will explain on the chanting reasonings.

Namo Amitabha Buddha --> This chanting would be useful to gain peace of mind, clarity, and also a chant to enter Amitabha Buddha Land... It is said that when a living being upon departing from this world, chanting this verse, would allow Amitabha Buddha to welcome the departed being into Amitabha Land with open arms, one would be reborn from a Lotus...

ga-te ga-te para-ga-te para-sam-ga-te bodhi svaha --> This chanting is called the Supreme Mantra, Great Bright Mantra, it is true and not false, for living beings to gain Wisdom, and award blessings to the surroundings. All Buddhas of the past, present, future use this supreme mantra to achieve Enlightenment, thus, a very important Mantra to chant during Meditation. It will allow you to gain wisdom, while in the Samadhi Zone, your mental images will be guided. {This supreme matra is called Prajna Paramita, basically ALL Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Arahats, of the past, present, future, are using these same chanting} Once one understood this, one will understand that when you chant this mantra, you would be blessed and blessing everything around your vicinity.

Om Mani Padme Hum --> This chanting is called Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva Compassion Mantra, it is commonly used when one feels distress, danger, and is a calling of help to Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva... a little sharing, since Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva had achieved Nirvana (complete extinction of defilements through meditation), he can move up to become a Buddha, however, vowed to be the last to become Buddha, when all beings are rescued and had attained Nirvana... Thus, Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva in my opinion is a Infinity Bodhisattva that will be with us in all 31 Realms of existence blessing and helping every living thing / non-living thing indefinitely. When one chants this mantra, one would be embodied with the Compassion, Loving-Kindness, Sympathetic Joy, and Equanimity, all these attributes are essential for successful meditation, entering Samadhi, allowing you to see guided mental images.

Vipassana Meditation Technique is also called Breathing Focus Technique and also called Insight Meditation. This is a fast track route if one believes that one is of quick wisdom, however, it requires very disciplined mental focus training to enter the samadhi, and purpose of entering samadhi is to understand the truth and the reality of nature.

For Tranquility Meditation or Samatha Meditation Technique, it is Kasina Focus Mental Training, or Object Focus Mental Training. There are about 10 Kasinas for the Tranquility Meditation. It's through Tranquility Meditation that one can achieve a state of near samadhi zone, once when one enters the near samadhi zone, one can remove the "acquired mental object" and switch to Vipassana Meditation / Insight Meditation / Breathing Focus Meditation, and your 5 senses consciousness, like eye consciousness, ear consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, body consciousness would be temporarily halted, only your Mind Consciousness is active, and then you can start to see mental images, which is guided.

There are 5 Rupa Jhana Levels to attain, and 4 Arupa Jhana Levels to attain, and there are very specific and detailed instructions from Abhidhamma Sutra.

In fact, in my humble opinion, this Abhidhamma Sutra is the most important sutra in the entire Buddhism Meditation Technique. It explains in very specific detail on why it is important to abide to the Noble Eightfold Path, follow the precepts, and meditate to achieve the highest possible Jhana level in each lifetime.

As I am responding to this article titled Vipassana, I just want to be very specific and clear to people who are currently practicing Vipassana Meditation without the RIGHT UNDERSTANDING of the entire Abhidhamma nor Noble Eightfold Path.

For Samatha / Vipassana Meditation to work, one have to uphold very high ethical moral standards, Understand the Four Noble Truths, follow the Noble Eightfold Path, build merits, make small offerings, and one will realize the path.

Personally, I would highly encourage people to read as much sutras they can find.

Here are some links to the free books / sutras resources online.

Dear Fellow Meditators, Practitioners, Followers of Precepts, Followers of The Noble Eightfold Path,

When you are reading this, you are a future Buddha, as the Lotus Sutra will set all free!

I understood that, it is truly possible to gain infinite wisdom while one is sincere in their meditation practice.

Please search for this Lotus Sutra, and read it, copy it, share with people you care about with it.

It is only through everyone's joint efforts in Chanting our Supreme Mantra : ga-te ga-te para-ga-te para-sam-ga-te bodhi svaha

That we all are able to remove the immoral consciousness and it's respective mental concomitants.

Meditation Core purpose are to remove these immoral consciousness... It can sound pretty abstract, however, I can assure you that when you meditate according to the Vipassana (Insight Meditation) and Samatha (Tranquility Meditation), you will be guided in your Mental Images.

Over the last week while meditating, I was inspired to search for more Sutras Songs online.

I had found that Usnisa Vijaya Dharani Sutra / Purifying All Evil Path Sutra was sang beautifully.

This Sutra is EXTREMELY VALUEABLE, and it offers numerous insights, and it's said to provide many ways of blessings, and eliminating evil karmas from 1000s of Kalpas ago (1 Kalpa is approximately 832 X 10^140 years ago). [Even to deceased people / animals]

https://buddhaweekly.com/sutra-troubled ... alamaties/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U%E1%B9%A ... S%C5%ABtra

It is perhaps the most NEEDED MANTRA that we all need to chant right now, to help cleanse away the world's evil karmas of the past Kalpas, and the immediate present...

Although the Dharani is pretty long, there is a shorter version :

It goes like this;

OM A-ma-rita Teja-vati Svaha!

The full version, one could reference the above link and read the entire passage. It provides many methods of prayers, chanting, and it have many benefits. Inclusive of achieving ultimate Enlightenment.

Right now, I found 4 powerful mantras to be chanted during my meditations.

1. Namo Amitabha Buddha
2. ga-te ga-te para-ga-te para-sam-ga-te bodhi svaha
3. Om Mani Padme Hum
4. Om A-ma-rita Teja-vati Svaha

Praying that this COVID-19 pandemic episode will be ending soon... need every meditators' help to chant... For the quick resolution of the COVID-19 pandemic... I entreat all of you to chant the above mantras together.

Dear Buddhists / Non-Buddhists, sentient beings, non-sentient beings, beings of the 31 realms of existence and all world systems,

As there is no self, everything is interconnected, all are important, and herein, based on prayer instructions via Dharani or Mantra Chanting, here is the method proclaimed.

Thus I have heard;

https://buddhaweekly.com/sutra-troubled ... alamaties/

Pertaining to how to uphold Dharani (Mantras) [Usnisa Vijaya Dharani Sutra Mantra is mentioned here]
The Buddha then told the Four Heavenly Kings, “Please listen attentively, for your benefit as well as for the benefit of all beings with short life spans, I will now explain the method to uphold this Dharani.

On a full-moon day – the 15th day of the lunar month, one should first bathe oneself and put on new clothes, uphold the profound precepts and recite this Dharani a 1080 times. This will cause one to lengthen one’s lifespan, and be permanently free from the sufferings of illness; all one’s karmic hindrances will be completely eradicated. One will also be liberated from suffering in hell. If birds, animals and other sentient beings hear this Dharani once, they will never again be reborn in these impure and gross body forms once their lives have ended.”

The Buddha continued, “If someone from a serious disease hears this Dharani, he will be free from the disease. All other illnesses will also be eradicated, so too will the evil karma that will cause him to fall into the evil paths. He will be reborn in the Land of Ultimate Bliss after the end of his life. From then onwards he will no longer be born from the womb. Instead, wherever he is reborn, he will be born transformed from the lotus flower and would always remember and uphold this Dharani and gain knowledge of his past lives.”

The Buddha added, “If someone has committed all the severe evil deeds before his death, according to his sinful deeds, he ought to fall into one of these realms of hell, animals, King Yama or hungry ghosts, or even into the big Avichi Hells, or be reborn as an aquatic creature, or in one of the many forms of birds and animals. If someone could obtain part of the skeleton of the deceased, and holding a fistful of soil, chant this Dharani 21 times before scattering the soil over the bones, then the deceased will be reborn in heaven.”

The Buddha further added, “If one can chant this Dharani 21 times daily, one is worthy of accepting all the immense worldly offerings and will be reborn in the Land of Ultimate Bliss after one’s death. If one chants this Dharani constantly, one will attain Maha Parinirvana and be able to lengthen one’s lifespan besides enjoying the most extraordinary bliss. After one’s life is over, one will reborn in any of the wonderful Buddha lands, in constant company of the Buddhas. All Tathágatas will always give discourses on the profound and wonderful truth of Dharma and all World

Honored Ones will bestow predictions of enlightenment upon one. The light illuminating from one’s body will pervade all Buddha lands.”

The Buddha further explained, “To recite this Dharani, one should first, in front of the Buddha’s image, use some clean soil to construct a square Mandala, the size according to one’s wish. On top of the Mandala one should spread different kinds of grass, flowers and burn different kinds of quality incense. Then kneeling down with the right knee on the floor, mindfully reciting the Buddha’s name and with the hands in the Mudrani symbol, (i.e. each hand bending the forefinger before and pressing it down with the thumb and placing both palms together before the chest) in reverence, one should recite this Dharani 108 times. The showers of flowers would rain down from the clouds and would thus be universally made as offerings to Buddhas as numerous as the grains of sand of eighty-eight million Ganges Rivers. These Buddhas will simultaneously praise,

“Excellent! Rare indeed! A Buddha’s true disciple! ” One will instantly attain Unobstructed Wisdom Samádhi and the Great Bodhi Mind Adorned Samádhi. Thus is the way to uphold this Dharani.”
The methods are recorded as above, thus one just need to follow the above instructions to have a successful prayer with mantras / Dharani

SUMMARY OF MANTRAS for prayers chanting / meditation chanting

1. Namo Amitabha Buddha [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amit%C4%81bha]

2. ga-te ga-te para-ga-te para-sam-ga-te bodhi svaha [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prajnaparamita]

3. Om Mani Padme Hum [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Om_mani_padme_hum]

4. Om Ama-rita Teja-vati Svaha[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U%E1%B9%A ... S%C5%ABtra]

5. Om Tare Tu Tare Ture Soha [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tara_(Buddhism)#Forms]

6. Om Bhai-shaj-ye Bhai-shaj-ye Bhai-shaj-ya samud-ga-te Svaha [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhaisajyaguru]

One last important note : while one is chanting, chant from the HEART (since all of our consciousness starts from there), and with firm FAITH, it will work.
