Double lung transplant

Post by PadmaVonSamba »

Hey!
I just had a double lung transplant a few days ago. I’m doing fine at this point, but any extra good wishes especially for loss to the donor family would be nice. Thanks!

That is crazy, and unexpected.

I hope that all is well for you.

May I ask what had happened that led to the event?

Whoa. Double lung transplant. Intense. Sounds like a cool band name, too.

Best healing wishes to you.

Congrats! Glad to hear you're doing well.

Do you mind if I ask if this is part of the ongoing stuff I've heard you mention in the last two years?

Actually I guess it was almost a week ago now (pain meds cause you to lose track, and I’ve been unable to focus until now). I was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis a couple of years ago. There’s no “cure”, except to get a transplant. I seriously considered not bothering, to just meditate and let the body die naturally. My first thought was “hey…I’m getting to go early” of course, that’s not how samsara works!
I think, if it were just me, if I were a monk in that kind of situation, I would have done that. Now I look at it as a suggestion that I still have work to do in this life.
I will say that after many days of the craziest med induced visualizations…I mean, really random, realistic, horrific stuff, I feel pretty confident that anything I encounter in the bardo I may just be able to handle. It was like that. I knew none of it was real.
Agsin, I’m trying to focus on the suffering of the family of the organ donor.

May you recover swiftly without obstacles and may the donor family's suffering be eased knowing that their loved one lives on in you.

Serious stuff! It's good to hear that you're doing well, and I hope you continue to do so.

While reflecting on the donor's family's loss, bear in mind that the benefit to you (and perhaps to recipients of other organs) will no doubt be a source of some comfort to them in their grief.

Oh... Padma... full-on! Had no idea, you bear your health issue very stoically, it seems.

All the best to you, and a speedy recovery!!!

Wow, Padma. I'm really glad you pulled through... I will definitely be sending some merit your way, and to the family of the donor!

What a journey you must have been through these past few years. I can't imagine the kind of insights that came from living with such an awareness of death in your life.

You may enjoy this book, given your experience: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/16118014 ... 1611801427

Are you able to reach out to the family of the donor? I’ve heard that may be possible.

Woa :o

Best wishes! I hope you'll get better soon and your body "accepts" the new organ without problems
