Audio of Tibetan Buddhism - chants and Dharma talks

Post by Dharmasherab »

I would like to have links to audio resources. I am aware that there is a section for this already but it is single thread with 22 pages.
I have two requests from fellow Tibetan Buddhists here.

1. Do you know of any online Tibetan Buddhist chants that are available for download prefereably in mp3?

2. Do you know of any Tibetan Buddhist Dharma talks online available for download?

I have an mp3 player and hope to put Tibetan Buddhist chants and Dharma talks into it so I can keep listening.

Dont worry about my school or tradition. Would highly appreciate if you leave responses as if it was a fellow Buddhist from your own school/tradition.

There were some nice talks on Study Buddhism, Alex Berzin's website:
https://studybuddhism.com/en/tibetan-bu ... io-courses
Unfortunately, the links seem to be broken atm, hopefully, they will be repaired at some point.

There is also a wealth of Buddhist material on Internet Archive, for instance the lectures from Tse Chen Ling Centre:
https://archive.org/details/tse_chen_li ... collection

There are also podcasts available from Sravasti Abbey:
https://sravastiabbey.org/learn-meditat ... sts-apps/
though these seem to only be available through the Tune In app rather than as an mp3

1. I mean, there's programs available, as well as webbrowser extensions, that allow you to download youtube-videos and convert them to mp3. Just search "Avalokitesvara mantra", "Padmasambhava mantra", etcetera on youtube. Alternatively use a webservice: https://ytmp3.cc/youtube-to-mp3/

2. Same here. There's also some talk by ven. Robina Courtin available on Spotify and the Wisdom Podcast that does hourlong interviews with Buddhist scholars, translators etcetera. I think Malcolm is on two of them.

There's also collected teachings by Chogyam Trungpa, here: https://www.chronicleproject.com/catego ... teachings/

Some radio programs like BBC's "In our time" has some subjects that are at least Buddhism-adjacent. Like "history of country X in Asia" or "historical figure X".

History of Philosphy without any gaps isn't "Dharma" per say. But there's certainly Indian and Buddhist philosophy: https://historyofphilosophy.net/series/ ... philosophy

I have to say that I cannot stand most of the chanting on Youtube. I much prefer something closer to traditional versions with minimal traditional instrumentation. They exist on Youtube, but there is a lot more of the poppy type stuff.

I've found that CD's etc. and digging for good recordings takes work. Sometimes you can check Tibetan shops and they will have recordings of more traditional stuff next to the poppy performances.

Dzongsar Khyentse is incredible. He was central to my Dharma education and really helped me bridge from zen into Tibetan Dharma. People can learn so much here.

I was recommended this by a long-time lover of Chogyam Trungpa. She said this is the best teacher she’s ever heard of his.

Some perhaps more traditional teachings in the Larma Kagyu lineage.

Not Tibetan Buddhism, but Thich Nhat Hanh is really wonderful... and not so different. Quite compatible as far as compassion, shamatha and emptiness go. His approach is very deep and heartfelt.

Thank you so much everyone. Its just that I got a new mp3 player while living in my monastery. I got a 256 gb microSD card. So trying to get as much Vajrayana/Tibetan Buddhist Dharma into it as much as possible from respected teachers of Vajrayana Buddhism/Tibetan Buddhism.
