I'm pretty sure "Stairway to Heaven" was inspired, at least in part, by Jigme Lingpa's “Stairway to Akanishta”.

Ahahaha ))) The same story! I was so frightened by prasanga-demagoguery, fairy tales, enlightenment from devotion and popularization of mysology that run away in one year from Ole Nydhal and from the "we-are-not-buddhists" people in DC and finaly landed in Abhidhamma\yogacara-pramanavada studies. This is all completely wrong. I hope that Malcolm's attitude will someday become the norm :cry:
