What to do with a pet's ashes?

Post by KiwiNFLFan »

Today my cat passed away. I chanted mantras during the process and played a recording of Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche doing a phowa practice after her breathing stopped.

What is customary to do with the ashes of a pet after cremation? I know a human Buddhist's ashes are often made into tsa-tsas, but I don't imagine that would be appropriate for a cat who never performed any spiritual practice (but heard mantras).

The crematorium will scatter the ashes in a rose garden, I've heard. Is this okay, or should something else be done?
