Shade from the trees decreases the radiant energy hitting you, so you are cooler. Air is the same temperature.

Maybe you have to come to a German forest. You will sense, the wind is cooler there.
I once had a device for the bike. It showed time, ridden kilometers and temperature. The forest in our city was 5°C cooler on hot summer days.

such a conclusion should factor in the radiant heat received by the sensor. it is in sun and shade as well.
