Icelandic artist Björk

Post by Nadereme »

Any fans of her here? Such an intriguing and creative artist. There is almost something superhuman about her, as if she might be a Deva in a past life. There seems to be subtle Vajra themes in some visual work, though it seems not by purpose.

Never got into listening to her music attentively, perhaps it's time to give her a chance?

On a slightly different note, I've been consistently listening to Icelandic artists such as Sigur Rós, Ólafur Arnalds and Eydís Evensen during the past couple of months. A lot of talented artists hailing from that beautiful island.

I’ve listened to Ólafur Arnalds he captures the Icelandic landscape well with his music

Bjork is awesome in so many ways. I also dig Sigur Ros.

A wonderful artist. An artist of great subtlety and sensitivity. She has professed a big interest in Buddhism.

I saw her play with the Sugarcubes in Houston when I was in high school. Definitely a great performer. I’m not a fan of her singing style, but I respect her as an artist and cool human.

I have been listening to her work since she was in Sugar Cubes. She was one of the artists whose music got me through high school and university.

The Sugar Cubes were cool, but they were….an alternative band. Pretty cool but unremarkable compared to her solo work IMO, some of which is just amazing.

BTW, people who are fans should check out Dancer in The Dark by Lars Von Trier. It’s a musical starring Bjork. The only musical I’ve ever sat through and an amazing film -music by Bjork of course.

She’s connected to the eco-philosopher Timothy Morton, who studies dzogchen with Tsoknyi Rinpoche. I’d be shocked if she hasn’t had some exposure to those teachings.

She did. It's why she's banned from China after performing in Shanghai when at the end of her song "Revolution", she screamed "TIBET! TIBET! TIBET!"

That’s interesting. She also mentioned reading the Tibetan Book of the Dead. I wonder if in the past few years she’s doing practice or made a connection to a guru.
