Quiz - Which Political Party would you belong to?
Quiz - Which Political Party would you belong to?
NYT quiz - if there were six political parties in the US, based on your views, which one would you likely belong to?

I would be on the socially liberal end of the Labor Party, which sounds about right.

There is no suffering to be severed. Ignorance and klesas are indivisible from bodhi. There is no cause of suffering to be abandoned. Since extremes and the false are the Middle and genuine, there is no path to be practiced. Samsara is nirvana. No severance achieved. No suffering nor its cause. No path, no end. There is no transcendent realm; there is only the one true aspect. There is nothing separate from the true aspect.

Progressive Party, of course. As far to the left as you can go, but not all the way down in the left hand corner.Queequeg wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 2:02 pm NYT quiz - if there were six political parties in the US, based on your views, which one would you likely belong to?

Re: Quiz - Which Political Party would you belong to?
I've always voted as far left as possible in our parliamentary & municipal elections, either socialist or greens, not labour. (Communist parties ceased to exist before I got the vote and wouldn't get my support.) But with the adoption of woke ideology by some parties on the left, I am in danger of becoming politically homeless. I will never vote for regressive, destructive woke nonsense.
If I were American, I would simply stay home. I have come to despise the Democrats as much as the Republicans. No small feat.
(Also, I've never read Marx (puts me to sleep) and loath German philosophy.)

"Wokeness" is just a meme pushed by Fox News as a dog whistle for racists, both consciousness and unconsciousness.Archie2009 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 3:21 pm I will never vote for regressive, destructive woke nonsense.
However the term "woke" has a venerable history in black community in the US, dating the 1930's:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woke
"I advise everybody, be a little careful when they go along through there – best stay woke, keep their eyes open."
--Scottsboro Boys, Leadbelly
I will certainly use the term, just like the term "Yankee" for New Englanders, which came originally from a satiric song originally sung by the Redcoats, Yankee Doodle Dandy. Much to the chagrin of the British troops it was adopted as a marching song by the Continental Army, rather in the same way Trumpsters flocked to Clinton's disastrous appellation for them, "deplorables."
To the tune of Turn the Beat Around:
Turn the meme around
Love to hear repercussions
Turn it upside down
Love to hear repercussions
Love to hear it...
Re: Quiz - Which Political Party would you belong to?
I always thought that “woke” had the sense of the Nation of Islam/Moorish Science Temple/Nation of Gods and Earths type of thinking, that distrusted the government, corporations, big pharma, monsanto, etc.
Years ago I used to participate on forums where there was a lot of this, and I was considered to be one of the most knowledgeable white guys there regarding said topics. A lot of Gods & Earths there read William Cooper’s Behold a Pale Horse, saw 911 as an inside job etc.
Then the term woke got co-opted by SJW’s and similar.
One specific example I’m getting at here, is that one of the most classic/famous Hip-Hop artists associated with the Nation of Gods & Earths, Lord Jamar, said that he doesn’t support ‘Black Lives Matter’ because George Soros etc. is behind them. He said those aren’t our people.

I got the Progressive Party.
I found the quiz rather surface-level.
I'm a cooperativist, personally.

Out of free articles,
I usually come out as somewhere on the libertarian/left end of the spectrum, sometimes a lonely place.

I couldn't take the above test, no access, so here's an alternative: a classic: https://www.politicalcompass.org/test
My result:
Related to this topic, I gave my vote to the Green party today, in the Norwegian election (election day September 13). It was either that, Red Party, or Socialist Left Party.

That Political Compass chart/quiz has been used here for at least ten years.
Like most people here (so far, anyway) I am most at home in the lower left quadrant but not all the way down to the corner.
Middle Way, right? And "If you don't vote Left before you're forty you have no heart," as my father used to say. (He had a second half to that, but I'm not going to repeat it because I disagree with it. )

I’m New Liberal Party, apparently. I’m 100% progressive on social issues. My most important issue is the environment, that should be the main focus of US policy. But, I’m not for, among other things, competely defunding the police, emptying all the prisons, letting immigration go unchecked and abolishing immigration laws and ICE. Not because I think we have a perfect system, but I think the best solutions lie in providing more government intervention in other ways that don’t merely exacerbate the problems and create more chaos.

Where is the Cakravartin Party option?
"One should cultivate contemplation in one’s foibles. The foibles are like fish, and contemplation is like fishing hooks. If there are no fish, then the fishing hooks have no use. The bigger the fish is, the better the result we will get. As long as the fishing hooks keep at it, all foibles will eventually be contained and controlled at will." -Zhiyi

Wouldn’t pay an single red penny for that nonsense; even if it is an “newspaper of record”. In fact I’d not pay for it because it probably is one.
