I very much doubt there would be a direct war with Iran. Putin would simply not allow Trump to do that, and there are many ways he can put pressure on trump if needed. Iran is extremely important in the broader Russian geopolitical strategy. Iran also absolutely doesn’t want it - it’s conventional military is extremely weak.

He’s really not that smart. I think the obvious explanation here is the right one - he wanted to distract people from the impeachment, he knew the hawks and the mouth-breathers would love any attacks on Iran, and when the democrats attacked him for it he could accuse them of supporting terrorists. I doubt he thought any further beyond that.

Putin is also an opportunist, but at least he sees a couple of moves ahead. Trump doesn’t see past the current news cycle.

Global, for sure, although to an extent unevenly spread. But even if it thickens in centres of capitalist power and those dependent on / colonised by them, it is felt everywhere that "the old is dying and the new cannot be born," with all its ramifications.

Sigh, this is truly one of the biggest dilemma and sad crisis of modern times.
The never-ending wars (esepcially in Middle East and Africas) and murders bickering, most likely stemming excessive greed from the richest top 0.1% imperialists, supporting genocidal weapons manufacturers & power-obsessed political corrupt bureaucrats & mass-polluting/trashing big manufacturing industries... etc.
The problem is not limited to just one country (USA). as it is more of a global problem affecting every single country on this planet.

No matter how the wealthy establishment class spins it, the horrible harmful deeds and consequences have already been done, primarily for their own selfish benefits, while the rest is somewhat FORCED to obey such flawed system lest they suffer more horrible consequences by the corrupt establishment institutions (eg. taxes / fees / fines / jail-time / impoverishment starvation ... etc.).

If there was only some ways to curb it with reasonable ethics and responsibility.
Buddha Dharma seems to be one of the best solution, but many obsessed with wealth and control seems to be unlikely to accept such.

Yes, that and the Afghanistan papers show that the Republican-spawned wars in the Middle East have all been utter folly, costing America prestige and sympathy abroad. Trump has managed to turn our country into a laughing stock. He is the weakest president we have had in over a hundred years.

I put nothing out of the question with Trump - really, nothing.

I would be surprised if his 'cultural' targets weren't actually mosques. Bombing heritage sites would not enrage Iran's rulers as much as bombing mosques.
I think he will be advised by 'intelligence' to take out any locations known to have cyber warfare capability but may prefer to hit nuclear plants if impeachment isn't going too well for him.
Meanwhile, I suspect Iran will hit planes and oil tankers and activate cells in the US and UK to bomb ......
