The temperature under a tree is the same as in sunlight.

The air in the sunlight and the air under the shade of a tree are the same temperature.

That blew my mind.

But it's not true.
At least if you walk into a forest, you can feel the difference very clearly.

Shade from the trees decreases the radiant energy hitting you, so you are cooler. Air is the same temperature.

:| Maybe you have to come to a German forest. You will sense, the wind is cooler there.
I once had a device for the bike. It showed time, ridden kilometers and temperature. The forest in our city was 5°C cooler on hot summer days.
Maybe the air in US is different.

such a conclusion should factor in the radiant heat received by the sensor. it is in sun and shade as well.
