Vaguely recall - many years back (in some movie I think) hearing a kind of 'quasi-mystical' Zen-like exchange, that took place between a Wise-one and a Seeker, along the following lines:
Seeker: Why do you answer every question with a question?
Wise-one: Why do you question every answer with a question?
Now, that could just be a quote in 'common parlance' somewhere at the time, or even something a Movie Screen-Writer concocted - but I like it, and think it's just as 'Zen' as the somewhat 'cliched' Henry Ford one - roughly - stating: Whether you think you can, or you can't - you're right.
Still, if the 1st (i.e. top-quote) 'is' an 'original' Buddhist Exchange / Quote, I'd be interested to learn who said it. (Haven't managed to discover the answer from Aunty-Google just yet).
Thanks - in advance - for any Comment.
Anyone know if this is a genuine Buddhist Quote, and who said it?
Re: Anyone know if this is a genuine Buddhist Quote, and who said it?
I do not think it is a quote from a direct source..
There is this however: There are three appropriate ways to answer a question; 1, with a statement; 2, with a question; or 3, with silence.
Perhaps this is what you are remembering... Or something between them both.
Peace , Namaste, good to have you by the way.

Thanks for the Comment plus your Welcome (Both Appreciated).
Don't think I've read what you kindly referenced, but useful to know!
