I'm back

Post by DGA »

Hi Everyone,

I was pretty active at DharmaWheel for a long time, and then I wasn't for a couple years. But I think I'm back again? What am I doing?

I'm thankful DharmaWheel is here and I'm happy to be participating

We'll be back to the same arguments. LOL

Welcome back :hi:

If nine and a half thousand posts only count as 'pretty active', most of us are just occasional drop-ins.

Welcome back! I think you're from before my time, but I've definitely seen your name here and there in old posts.

Nice to see you again. Also trying to be more active here myself. Dharma Wheel archives Buddhist information and resources differently than other sites, which is useful for other people sometimes.

Wow, good to see you back, was just wondering what happened to you the other day.
Here's what happened.

In the fall of 2018, my wife was pregnant with our second child and some complications arose. I had a terrible commute and we were not going to make it economically in the city where we were living with another kid. We were going to sink and I was working hard to get us the hell out of there, applying for jobs and whatnot. That December, I finally succeeded, and got the opportunity to work and live much, much closer to home and much, much more affordably.

After our daughter was born, my wife almost died--twice. It's been 2 and a half years and her health still isn't 100% right. So for a while, I was supporting our household on one salary, raising two small children, caring for a sick spouse, and running the household. My mother-in-law was there for us for many of those months, but she had her own challenges and sometimes I had to care for her, too.

That went on for a while. We're doing better now. But as far as I can see, I'm the only Dharma person within maybe an hour's drive. that's good for a while but now it's becoming a drag. So here I am, rock you like a hurricane and whatnot

Thank you everyone for the kind words.

Oh, one more thing: My dad's fighting stage 4 cancer. he lives a little over three hours away, if you haul ass through the Columbia Gorge. His girlfriend is caring for him, BUT now she has an aggressive cancer going on too, so she's getting a pretty invasive surgery on Monday. So I'll be in Portland caring for the both of them for a while.

Anyway, that's a sample of life's rich pageant. That's what I've been doing with my life of late.
