I have no idea, if we need so many subforums.
Maybe threads are better findable then.
But if only very few people engage there, it might look poor.
In worst case only one or two people engage a whole subforum.
Therefore it would be interesting to read some more people's opinions on that suggestion. .

Re: What is supposed to be kept secret? What isn't?
I believe, that is the quandary of this thread: If it's resticted, it's not even appropriate to mention it. Therefore, we cannot list restricted texts or deities here. One could only talk about it very generally and keep unclear about practices and texts. Maybe I'm wrong, but I assume, who engages v...

Re: Dealing with the Blues through Practice
I never heard my teacher recommend anything regarding dark weather times. He seems to be indifferent to seasons, just like he eats any meal in dignity without judging. For me, winter was a big issue when I was young. Now I find going out every day, take a walk at the river, the fields or the park at...

Re: Fear of no/not self, what is the way out to this?
But in reality, nothing changes. You already don't have a self. You never did have one. The difference between having a self and not having a self is that the first one is a delusion and the second one is that reality that you have been living all along. All you lose is the delusion. Om mani padme ...

Re: Ok to read a Sadhana without Empowerment?
By the way, it is not appropriate to lump all Vajrayāna into "Tibetan Buddhism." The forum should be called "Vajrayāna" with the current subfora as-is, with the addition of Shingon and Tendai (maybe re-use the links from between East Asian forum there) and have a subforum for In...

(...) But we are losing something.......we are misising something. I fear we are diluting the strength..... (...) IMHO, we are missing respect. Not respect out of fear, but out of love. We're missing veneration, respect in the strength and power of these Dharma teachings, the dieties and the teache...

Re: Ok to read a Sadhana without Empowerment?
Hey I am wondering if it is ok to read (not practice!) a Sadhana without Empowerment from a teacher? ... If not if ok to read without empowerment that’s cool as well, I and just wondering is all I'm wondering why this is in Mahayana Buddhism and not Vajrayana. (...) I didn't realize it was in the s...

Re: Ok to read a Sadhana without Empowerment?
Only IMHO: Maybe it's not harmful, because being harmful depends on the circumstances and the motivation. But because it's written and said every now and then, "Only with initiation", I don't think it's okay to read it. And because of that you can surely assume that a sadhana you get to re...

Re: how can one be more compassionate?
how can one be more compassionate? let's talk For me it's always helpful to change the ancle of view from 'How do I feel about this' to 'How does the other one feel about it?'. This is my first step to compassion and to seeing more of the picture. And sometimes empathy (and thus compassion as well)...

... Could long time without sleep damage me (if I didn't took medics the 3rd night for example what could happen)? Or do I have to learn to "sleep with awareness" ? If so, how, because I have those weird jerks which break entering in sleep by itself? How do long term meditators, with slee...

Re: Online or in person Sangha

The weekends with his courses have always been a fundamental source of inspiration for me. Then due to Covid, the center shifted the courses to online. And now, since Covid...

Re: Merit in Mahayana
It is certain that merits are gained upon giving whether or not the giver is attached to what was gifted or otherwise. The exceptions to the above are if it was given with the purpose of ill intentions or any unwholesome ulterior motives. Another reason that reverses the merit is if the giver regre...
