Re: You know your a Tibetan Buddhist when,...

At a certain time every morning your backyard looks like a soup kitchen for squirrels and crows because they have figured out your pudga schedule.

You know your a Tibetan Buddhist when,...

You don't mind if your neighbors smoke pot, but when a whiff of tobacco smoke comes across your deck you close all the windows and go inside.

What other strange things do we do and no longer notice?

Re: Military "Hazing" Led to Pvt. Danny Chen's Suicide

That stat is for Vets. There were a number of suicides in the Army when I was in, but unsurprisingly stats were not shared with personnel. What we don know is one in three homeless men in America is a veteran and a vet is committing suicide every 80 minutes. It is nice to see the interest in this si...

Re: Military "Hazing" Led to Pvt. Danny Chen's Suicide

18 US vets commit suicide daily. Units like that who "buddy frak" each other and don't back up team members are the ones with the lowest morale and I suspect the highest suicide rates.

Re: Yeah, Dzogchen is confusing

We are told that if we have visions of deities not to hold too much importance to that Because those visions are mental projections, based on mind. and yet here we have world-famous teachers writing entire series of books based on visions from deities. Because this teacher has knowledge of his real...

"There is dry wood and there is green wood." Tulkus are very dry wood. The great ones need only one spark and they start burning.

The most crass possible cash in on the popularity of a dead celebrity and an exotic religion. It smells like something I made the morning after I ate bad Indian food. Apple fan boys will love it.

The Essence of Ganapati-Ganesvara (Sanskrit: Aryaganpatihridaya; Tibetan: 'Phags pa Tshogs kyi dDag po'I sNiying po): "Homage to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. "Thus have I once heard: "The Blessed One was dwelling in Rajagriha together with a great community of 1250 monks and of B...

From a magical perspective telling lies will destroy the efficacy of your mantra practice.

Re: 1000 to 1500 Chinese spies might be at Bodhgaya Kalacakra

You both seem a bit naive. PRC is bad ass. They kill and disappear their own citizens on a daily basis. You can still send your blood type/tissue matching to prisons in China and buy the organs you need. Tweet the words "Jasmine revolution" and you disappear. But you actually believe Tibet...

What China are you talking about? The one that sold Falun Gong dissidents organs on Ebay? Or perhaps this one; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oo7BDbH17qA&feature=player_embedded" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; China is morally broken beyond the comprehension of the Weste...

Re: 1000 to 1500 Chinese spies might be at Bodhgaya Kalacakra

Remember there was a Maoist revolution in Nepal. Sponsored and supplied by Chinese hoping to destroy Nepal's ties with india. Tibetan Buddhist's are anti-China. Tibetans taking Kalachakra are a threat to Chinese sovereignty. Chinese planned to assassinate the Dalai Lama for years. Killed over a mill...

Re: Is it possible to be a Budhist and believe in God?

Perhaps if you took the gnostic view of God as Demiurge. Then God would be the equivalent of Brahma. Unworthy of worship by Buddhists. To take refuge in Brahma breaks your refuge precepts. He is only a worldly God who mistakenly believes he created the universe. This gets complicated though. How wou...

I think the question is how is their behavior. Is their conduct virtuous? Compare them to a recognized Tulku like Alyce Zeoli or Seagal(Nyingma's equivalent of the crazy uncle no one talks about) who technically I should support being a student of Penor Rinpoche. The Supreme Head of the Nyingma scho...

Re: Curing sesame oil

Who makes good Ayurvedic massage oils? I still have my stash of ancient ones. Sandalwood and camphor and Himsagar Taila were two of my favourites. I have actual snake oil as well, an old Mogul recipe. Very effective. What I would really love right now is Mahlakshmi Vilas Ras with Gold. But you have ...

Re: Throat Sickness

I know it's been awhile but if you are still sick I may know what is infecting you. This year I’ve seen many co workers at the hospital develop chronic sinusitis, ear infections and even pneumonia. Some think it can even cause UTIs as well. All caused by a bacterium that is amoxicillin resistant. Ma...
